Updates

m.pracht .. 10/22/06

I did a little rearranging in hopes of making info about the Local a little more available .. ie. an RSS feed Any administrator can access and update, from Anywhere. Which, once regular shows start again, will replace this box.. in the meantime I'll use this to keep you informed on website related things. As such, the Discussion Board is still on hiatus. I'll try to get it up on Another temporary host while the bugs are fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Important

j.rash, w. merrill .. 7/27/06

To all our friends and especially those bands booked for the month of August 2006: Due to a variety of circumstances, Flint Local 432 must regrettably cancel all shows that had been planned for the month of August. As we all know, promoting regular all-ages music scene is tough. If it was easy, there would be as many all-ages clubs as there are bars. The Local strives to do its best at all times to provide a venue for both up-and-coming and established musicians to perform in a substance-free environment where everyone is given a chance. Unfortunately the cost of paying the overhead at a rented venue on top of the costs associated with getting our new space together has made it impossible to keep subsidizing the losses from the always-slow summer shows. Along with some issues regarding our use of the current rental space, the concerts have been struggling in the past few months for several reasons. Some of our most-successful bands have broken up, or more happily, have been touring regularly. The Locals multiple spaces have confused people about whether we were open and made it hard to gain any momentum. The break in shows meant that we were not very successful in recruiting a new cadre of bands to fill shows. We hope that taking a break now will make it possible to consolidate our resources and put all our efforts into making the new Local (at 124 W. First St) a reality. Its the future of the Local and we think the future of all ages music in Flint, MI. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience this will undoubtedly cause the bands who had committed to these shows and we cant say sorry enough. Thank you so much for your willingness to play at the Local and we very much hope to work with each and every one of you in the years of shows to come. The Local has been a positive force in the music scene for almost twenty years we will emerge from this hiatus even stronger than before. We will regularly post details of what is to come on the Local website as well as keep you up to date through our MySpace, Live Journal and message board communities. As soon as we know the tentative opening date of the new space all bands will receive a notification e-mail, and everyone who is missing out on an August date will move to the top of the booking list. Sincerely, Joel Rash, Wade Merrill and the rest of the 432 Crew P.S. We hope you'll come out and join us this weekend at the Masonic Temple for the last two shows of the summer:

Updates

m.pracht .. 6/17/06

June and July schedules have been updated on the calendar page, as well as the archive section. Also, if you know HTML and CSS coding, have basic scripting knowledge, live in the greater Flint area, and would like to help out the Local, please send me an e-mail listing your qualifications. I could use some help maintaining the website and discussion board.

Show Cancelled

m.pracht .. 4/27/06

The show scheduled for May 5th, featuring the Suicide Machines, has unfortunately been cancelled due to an unexpected emergency. We are working on rescheduling the show for a later date, so please check back often for updates. We apologize for any inconvenience. In unrelated news, the 'Links' pages should be up and running now, so feel free to add your Local Band Link, Flint Link, or State Link to the database.

Yes, it finally happened. I finally sort of got it together and re-opened the Flint Local 432's website. Some of it's not pretty, and some of it still isn't completed, but it's something. I'll keep working on it in the next few weeks and hopefully it'll all come back together. And sorry about the delay guys.. So go ahead and check it out..
