Reopening?

Does anyone have any news on the reopening?

I know we have a building on 1st street, but it isn't up to code. When I talked to Joel a couple months ago he said he was waiting on a grant from the Mott foundation to start work on the building.

I know that there are a lot of people who would be willing to donate time to work on fixing stuff, but we still need money. Is there anything we can do to start raising money on our own because we've been waiting on grants for a few years now...

Honestly, grant writing and the whole process takes a very long period of time, especially if the grant money is used for construction costs. I'm currently working on the preliminary stages for some grant work for the DDA in my college town, and projected time-line is at least a year for the approval process. Granted, this is a state grant and not a foundation grant, but there's a lot of red tape.

Hopefully I'll be able to help Joel with the grant process and take some of the work off of his shoulders, but we'll see.

Just keep your ear to the ground and things will happen eventually.
